» David Wittig

At Oriel y Felin Art Gallery

David moved to Pembrokeshire from Australia in1998. Together with his wife, Lucy, he makes all of the sculptures by freehand lampwork. This is achieved by manipulating rods of borosilicate glass in an oxygen and propane flame of approximately 1200'c. The main component of glass is sand, when the sand is heated it becomes a molten liquid, this is now glass. Glass is a liquid in a frozen state this is where the name Liquid Sand comes from. After working with glass for 30 years David's philosophy is "you can't just work glass you have to work with it."

» Adam Aaronson

At Oriel y Felin Art Gallery

Adam specialises in free blown glass, and his work experiments with the hugely varied possibilities of the medium. His vessels and sculptures are at once a celebration of the simplicity of pure form, and also an investigation into the possibilities of layering. His coloured patinas include complex abstract arrangements, drawing on painterly techniques used by the artists Pollock and Mir, but also inspired by a love of nature and landscape akin to the Impressionists. His work is both exhibited and in collections worldwide.
